Will Roberts (21 December 1907 – 11 March 2000) was a Highly Regarded Welsh expressionist painter. Will Roberts was born in Ruabon, Denbighshire, the son of a railwayman of the Great Western Railway. The family moved to Neath in Glamorgan in 1918 and he studied at the local Swansea Art School under William Grant Murray.

Roberts's suggestions of Indian troops and a prisoner of war camp were declined by Coote, but the artist suggested alternatives and transport subjects at railway stations were approved (LD 1501 and IWM:ART LD 1701). Two of these were executed (mentioned to Bone in letter 68-9). A dock subject was proposed.

The line was opened by the Inverness and Perth Junction Railway (I&PJR) in 1863, subsequently becoming part of the Highland Railway . The current station was opened in 1898, to designs by the architect William Roberts when the "direct" line to Inverness via Slochd was built, making Aviemore an important junction and replacing the original 1863 building.
