The American activist and multimedia artist Yolanda López was born in San Diego in 1942 and currently resides in San Francisco. Yolanda Lopez was born in San Diego, California in 1942. As the eldest daughter of three, she was raised by her mother and her mother’s parents in the Logan Heights neighborhood. It wasn’t until she became a part of the San Francisco State University when she stated working as a community artist in the Mission District with the group Los Siete de la Raza.
